Benny's Bites - Friday 29 July 2021
Year 12 update
Yesterday the NSW Premier announced the return of Year 12 students to school sites in Greater Sydney, including Wollongong and Shellharbour, from 16 August 2021.
This announcement provides some greater certainty for Year 12 students and their families at this time but will mean we are required to further adjust our Year 12 Trial Exam timetable at the school.
The Trial Examinations will commence on Wednesday 18 August and conclude Wednesday 1 September. The subject order of examinations will remain as previously advised. Please see timetable below.
We are aware however that COVID may still impact on our capacity to run the trial examinations and we will be following all necessary guidance and direction from NESA to ensure that students are not disadvantaged in terms of determining a fair and valid assessment. The regular Illness and Misadventure provisions in place for student assessment continue to apply.
Of course, the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remains an absolute priority, and as such;
- Any Year 12 student who is unwell, even with very mild symptoms, must stay home.
- Any student who is a close or casual contact of a confirmed case or is required to self-isolate, must follow the direction of NSW Health and stay home as required.
- Any student who attends school with any COVID-19 symptoms will be sent home and must present a negative COVID-19 test and be free of symptoms before they return.
Thank you for understanding the importance of these measures in keeping our students, staff and school community safe during this time.
You will continue to receive regular updates as the COVID-19 situation in NSW continues. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions or would like to request additional support.
Sincerely,
Kerrie Piatek

Year 10 Food Technology - Food trends
Year 10 Food Technology are currently finishing their ‘Food trends’ unit. During this remote learning time, students have learnt about various food styling and plating techniques, as well as investigated food photography.
During the past couple of weeks, students were asked to put their knowledge into action and challenge themselves when preparing their family meals and snacks. Here are some great examples of some of the photos submitted in the past couple of weeks. Well done to all students who have engaged in this opportunity to extend their skills!
