Message from the Principal
Congratulations, once again to the entrepreneurship students who participated in the Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Rinker School of Business Fourth Annual Entrepreneurship High School Challenge. Two of the LWIT teams placed in the top five with one winning 1st place and a $1,000 cash prize. The winning team, Cycle Guard, consisted of seniors Andres Garcia and Edgar Juarez. Their success would not be possible without the support of their teacher, Bob Jackson, SCORE members, specifically Vin Izzi and Rick Ponton and the multimedia students.
In other news, the week of February 2-6 is National School Counseling Week. I wish I could reminisce and tell you stories about the influence that school counselors had on me throughout my schooling years, but I can't. From a student's perspective they never took time to know their students and spent much of their time scheduling and doing "paper work"
It is refreshing to see that students' experiences with the LWIT/LWTHS counselors is much different than when I was in school. Our counselors are a dedicated group of professionals who spend their time helping students with academics, and career planning as well as with an array of social issues such as bullying, mental illness, homelessness, eating disorders, drug issues, and the list goes on and on. Our counselors are proactive and spend time getting to know our students . More than anything, they encourage, inspire and motivate students do their best and never to give up.
Take time this week to recognize our school counselors and thank them for the amazing work they do each and every day.
