Classroom Happenings
ELA: Mrs. Day & Mrs.Goosen
This week we finished reading Refugee with a focus on our perspective of characters changing. We ended the week assessing our participation in the unit and showing off our thinking about reading in a Long Write (debatable topic with three pieces of text evidence).
At this point, students are required to read at home daily. Two choice novels are due at the end of September.
If you would like to support our classroom library, please visit our class Amazon Wish List (Day) or Amazon Wish List (Goosen). Thank you for your support!
Science: Mr. Geringer & Mrs. Oliver
Students spent the first part of the week analyzing data and using it to write effective compare and contrast statements. Students also created a model of our solar system to help visualize the distance between objects in our solar system.
Our focus shifted toward the end of the week to our study of gravity. We will continue this next week working toward an understanding of gravity’s role in the universe, not just how we experience it on Earth.
If you would like to support activities in Mrs. Oliver’s classroom, please visit her Amazon Wish List.
Social Studies: Mrs. Goosen & Mr. Landolt
Students have spent time this week analyzing various political maps of the world. They have learned about the major geographic features of the earth, and next week will begin to discuss the major geographic features of Ancient Civilizations.
