Defer Dragon's Burning News
October 5, 2018
From the Principal
Dear Defer Families,
It was an exciting afternoon for our Defer Community!! It was great to see so many parents on the field today supporting our students. Thank you to everyone who donated to our amazing fundraiser! A special thank you to all the volunteers who made this event so successful. Your generosity supports school programs, subscriptions, apps, technology, flexible seating, and much more for all students at school. Every class met their fundraising goal and earned a pizza party. A few classes even earned a popsicle treat for doubling their fundraising goal!
I look forward to seeing everyone at Parent-Teachers conferences on Wednesday and Thursday next week. Your child continues to grow and learn each day. As we continue to develop our partnership between school and home, please let me know how I can support you and your children at Defer.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Rheaume

The Defer PTO was recently targeted in an email phishing scam. Thankfully no one fell victim, however, we feel it is important to share this information with the Defer community. Please know that the PTO and its board members will never use email to request you to make purchases. If you see an email that looks suspicious, please call the Defer office immediately. Thank you for your help!

Leader in Me
Welcome back to school! We are excited to continue the educational journey- learn to lead, lead to inspire! Your child is learning and practicing the language and meaning of the 7 Habits. When we work together to use the same language both at home and at school, we are sending the important message that we are on the same team- which is a partnership to help each and every child succeed.
Below is a summary of each of the 7 Habits:
Habit 1: Be Proactive (You’re in Charge)
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind (Have a Plan)
Habit 3: Put First Things First (Work First, Then Play)
Habit 4: Think Win-Win (Everyone Can Win)
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood (Listen Before You Talk)
Habit 6: Synergize (Together is Better)
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw (Balance Feels Best)
The family friendly video below celebrates the Combs’ school’s journey. We know that our children are learners and leaders. Let’s work together to support them on this journey.
We are excited about cultivating leadership at Defer!
