Notes from Mrs. Taylor
November 5th, 2023
Dear Families of Room 25,
I hope this email finds you well. I just wanted to reach out with a few reminders.
STEM Night
Our Family STEM Night is on Thursday, November 16 from 6:00 - 7:30. If you plan to attend, please RSVP here.
Conferences
Conference sign ups are in the Genesis Parent Portal now. When you log into Genesis select the Conference tab and then select Schedule Conference for Elementary Conferences. You can then select the day and time, and in person or virtual.
On conference days there will 1:00 dismissals. The district made a slight change to the conference dates. Conferences will be on:
- Thursday, 11/30 (6:00 - 8:00)
- Monday, 12/4 (2:00 - 4:00)
- Tuesday, 12/5 (6:00 - 8:00)
- Wednesday, 12/6 (2:00 - 4:00)
If you cannot find a time that works for you, please reach out via Remind or email, and I will do my best to accommodate your schedule.
Homework
Please remind the kids to complete their homework as it is no longer optional. Due to the short week, there will be spelling again this week.
Scholastic News
You may have started to see some Scholastic News assignments come home. Students work on these assignments during IE/Flex Time over the course of a week. I do an initial check and score (sometimes with the student) and then return to the student to make corrections in class. This process helps the kids learn from their mistakes and also helps them learn to advocate for themselves as they can always ask for help during IE/Flex Time.
Robots
You may have also started to hear your children talk about robots and coding. We have started using various forms of technology during IE/Flex Time once their assignments are complete. Some kids have even started to work on IE assignments at home (their choice) so they can get to free choices earlier in the week. Our 3D pens will be coming out soon too!
What's Happening
Remember to check out our class website and Twitter to see all that we are doing in class.
Have a great rest of the week and as always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thanks,
~Jenn Taylor
