What ARE Scholarships?

Per the Federal Student Aid website, "Scholarships are gifts. They don't need to be repaid. There are thousands of them, offered by schools, employers, individuals, private companies, nonprofits, communities, religious groups, and professional and social organizations."

For much more information on merit vs. need, what kinds of scholarships are available, and more, please visit: https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/types/scholarships

Where to Find Scholarships

  • Local banks
  • Places of employment (your own or parent's/guardian's)
  • Local organizations, clubs, or activities to which you belong/in which you participate
  • Both the CHS Alumni Scholarships and the Town of Chelmsford Scholarships are discussed at length below.

  1. Log into Naviance.

  2. Click on "Scholarships and Money."

  3. Select" Scholarship List."

  4. Click on the scholarship listing to access the link to the application or information on how to access the application (please note that some scholarships might not have a link; it could be a PDF application.).

You Will Need a Transcript...Here's How to Request One!

  • PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST FILL OUT ONE FORM PER SCHOLARSHIP.
  • Please note that unlike with colleges, your counselor will not send your transcript directly to an institution or organization; rather, she/he will simply send you a copy of your own transcript to navigate independently. In other words, the student is responsible for submission of his/her/their own transcript.

Where Do I Get My Transcript?

After requesting your transcript via the aforementioned process, your counselor will send a PDF of your transcript to your SCHOOL EMAIL ADDRESS. If you need a hard copy, it is your responsibility to please see your counselor in person. If you have not received your transcript via your school email address within a week of your request, it is your responsibility to please follow up with your counselor in person.

Counselors are not responsible for sending your transcripts directly to scholarship-based websites; they will only be sending transcripts to students via their school email addresses or through pick up in the House Office.

Please Note...

Please allow at least five school days for the processing of transcript requests. There is no immediate or rush service available.
