Hexadecimal, Binary and Denary
The Basics
What are they?
They are all different coding systems. However they all use different digits.
Binary uses 2 digits - 0 and 1
Denary uses 10 digits - 0 to 9
Hexadecimal uses 16 digits - 0 to 9 then A to F
Denary is the system we use in everyday life. Binary is used mainly for coding, however it is rather complicated when it comes to big numbers
When to use them
Denary can be used in the real world, where as binary, as said before, is used for coding,, however is rather complicated when it comes to big numbers. For example the number 300:
Binary
11111111 00101101
Hexadecimal
FF2D
As you can see it's much easier to write it in hex, which is why it's used.
