Anna Reynolds Media Center

The End is Near!

It's hard to believe that the 2015/2016 school year is coming to a close! Time really does fly by when you're having fun. Before the school year finishes out though, I need to do an inventory of all materials belonging to the library. Therefore, all books were due back to the media center by Friday, May 27th. Students who have a lost book/magazine will bring home a printout from our library catalog system showing the title of the book and the cost. Payment may be made by cash or check. All checks should be made out to the Anna Reynolds Student Activity Fund. Thank you for any assistance you can provide!

And the Winner is...

The Nutmeg Book Award encourages children in grades 2-12 to read quality literature and to choose their favorite from a list of nominated titles. There are lists for four divisions: Elementary (grades 2-4), Intermediate (grades 4-6), Teen (grades 7-8) and High School (grades 9-12). Jointly sponsored by the Connecticut Library Association (CLA) and the Connecticut Association of School Librarians (CASL),the Nutmeg Committee is comprised of children's librarians and school library media specialists who are members of our sponsoring organizations.

Selection committees meet from January - November and are comprised of school media specialists and public librarians. Selection committee members must be members of CLA or CASL. Student representatives are also present on each selection committee. Two 6/7th graders are on the Intermediate committee, two 8/9th graders are on the Teen committee, and two 10/11th graders are on the High School committee. They are selected via an application process.

In April of this year, students all across the state of Connecticut voted for their favorite Nutmeg title. In May of 2016, Nutmeg Winners were chosen. And the winners were...
