Workshop on Mental Health Awareness
Fort Bend ISD, in conjunction with Mental Health America Greater Houston, will host a workshop on February 26, 2019 focused on the impact of trauma on children and adolescents.
This workshop is open to all FBISD parents and staff and will cover:
Different types of trauma
Impact of trauma on the brain and child development
The challenges children and adolescents, affected by trauma, face when emotional and behavioral disturbances are part of their school life
Ways to communicate and respond to your child/adolescent in a trauma-informed manner
The workshop will be held on February 26, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the M.R. Wood's Gym (138 Avenue F, Sugar Land 77498).
This is the first parent workshop in this spring series as part of the FBISD Speak Up initiative. Speak Up is focused on promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention by reducing the stigma and fear associated with being an upstander and reaching out for support, either for yourself, a friend or family member. For more information, go to www.fortbendisd.com/SpeakUp.

We LOVE seeing our parents at performances, games, and competition!
However, we would like to take the opportunity to remind our Tiger parent community about some general expectations for our events and competition.
- Support your student and their teammates! No matter what they tell you or how old they are, kids love to see their parents in the stands! And they love hearing your voice as you cheer them on!
- Be LOUD, Be PROUD, Be POSITIVE! Remember, to keep your words positive and encouraging!
- Parents and spectators should not at any point address the referees, umpires, judges, etc. and/or opposing team players and/or coaches.
- Referees, umpires, judges have the full authority to have removed any person that they deem to be disruptive, abusive, or disrespectful. Once this occurs, you will be asked to leave by a Travis HS Administrator and/or FBISD Police Officer.
