Counselors are holding college application workshops for senior students during advisories on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Senior students working on 4-year college applications are encouraged to attend often!

Family Mental Health Summit (NAMI)
NAMI Metro Suburban is hosting a Family Mental Health Summit for the community on October 16th from 1 to 4:30PM at the Oak Park Public Library! This free event will educate guests on navigating mental wellness for the entire family. We will have expert speakers on topics like therapy basics, self-care, and crisis support.
NAMI also offers the following groups:
Parent Support Group - Improving Teen Mental Health
- When: First Thursday of the month 7:00-8:30PM
- Where: First Congressional Church of Western Springs (1106 Chestnut)
Spanish Language Family Support Groups
- When: 4th Thursday of every month 6:30-7:30PM
- Where: Quinn Center of St. Eulalia (1832 S 8th Ave)
Community Resources
- This Saturday, there are 3 clinics going on in 3 different locations run by different organizations. If you have any families who may need dental, medical, or vision, please be sure to check the flyers out and share that information.
- Cook County is offering $500/month to families who qualify and meet the criteria for the Cook County Pilot Promise Pilot Program. Please see the flyer and also note there are various dates where organizations are helping families fill out the paperwork to apply.
- There is a Virtual Domestic Violence Workshop being offered on the 14th. This is for anyone wanting information on Domestic Violence.
- October 15th, there is a coat giveaway. If any of your families are in need of winter coats and they can get to this location, they are giving away coats, cold weather essentials, breast cancer awareness resources, and free HIV testing.
- PASO's Open House is on Saturday the 8th. They offer great support to immigrant families.
- Lots of Trunk or Treat events happening. West40 will actually be part of a couple of Halloween events coming up later in the month. If you are interested in participating, please let me know.
- October 26th West40 is partnering with NAMI to give a Mental Health Awareness and suicide prevention training for Parents. Please share that info with parents.
- This Friday is the Family Engagement Network meeting at Morton College. Please be sure to register here.
- Also, did you know that families can get affordable internet if they receive snap benefits or the student is on free/reduced lunch? Comcast and AT&T have programs and few other companies, which is actually a state initiative.
Senior Picture Opportunity
If you are looking to schedule senior portraits (beyond the ID pictures you took last month), EPHS has partnered with MN Photo Studios, LLC to offer our Class of 2023 students and their families the opportunity to take senior photos for $30 at EPHS Nov. 15-17 after school from 3:00-7:00 PM.
