Chemistry FUN!
In Science class the 7th graders have been working on really BIG ideas about very small things---ATOMS!! We did two really fun and informative activities this week. We organized clues and characteristics for some of the elements on the Periodic Table, based on our understanding of their particles!! It was fun, and it really helped us to learn about protons, electrons and neutrons!

Roanoke, Jamestown and European Settlements
We are studying about the first settlements in the "new world". We began by investigating the mystery surrounding the settlement of Roanoke. It was very interesting to learn about the ongoing mystery ---what might have happened to the settlers of Roanoke. We heard a few theories and discussed what we thought might have happened. Truly an ongoing historical mystery. We also studied about French, Dutch and British settlements and pondered the question--" What does it take for a for a society to succeed?"
At the end of this week we concentrated on Jamestown and the relationship between the British settlers and the Powhatan Tribe. Very interesting primary sources and secondary sources were investigated.
