PTO in Action: Families Make Our School a Great Place
Our school PTO supports so many wonderful activities, field trips, classroom subscriptions, and family programs. It only seems right to pay tribute to them within our newsletter! Our school PTO has open membership and we cordially invite you to our next meeting on Monday, March 7, from 6:00-7:00 pm at the school.
The PTO is hoping you will join us as they are looking for ideas from families to plan some additional end of the year activities and programs as we say goodbye to the Pleasant Street School and prepare to celebrate the opening of ACES, the new Athol Community Elementary School next year!
Also don't miss out on Toy Bingo to be held on Friday, March 18th from 6:00-7:30 pm.
Here's a cute video from Toy Bingo Family Night last year.
Pictured below are some wonderful snapshots of events held this year sponsored by our school PTO.
IT'S TIME TO SEND IN THOSE BOXTOPS YOU HAVE BEEN SAVING!
If you are like Principal Ellis you have a little plastic bag of Boxtops set aside to bring into school. Well, it's time to send in that collection and start a new one! Our Parent/Teacher Organization uses monies raised from Boxtops to support school enrichment projects including classroom subscriptions to the Scholastic news, field trips, and more!

Students in Mrs. Heuer's class were asked to make text to self connections to a Dr. Seuss quote. Pictured is Ruby's work as she drafts out her wonderful insights to the Dr. Seuss quote, "Today you are you, that is truer that true, there is no one alive that is youer than you."

Catch of the Day
Our School Support Noon Duty staff continue to be recognizing students in their, "Catch of the Day," program. This honor is given to students who staff observe demonstrating our school expectations of respect for self, respect for others, and respect for propertyduring recess. Each day they choose one student from recess as the Catch of the Day who then receives a certificate, a stuffed fish for a day, and is entered into a weekly drawing in the "fish bowl" to receive a prize. Here are some recent catches and to the right is our prize winning catch of the week Leah.

COMMUNITY STARS... ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF OUR STUDENTS IN THE COMMUNITY!
Principal Ellis has added a section to our newsletter to highlight some of the wonderful achievements and activities of our students in the community. We have children involved in so many things within our larger community including those in performing arts and theatre, those who volunteer their time to help others, and students who participate in scouting, sports programs, and much more! We hope to recognize some of their accomplishments here and invite families to send in pictures and reports to share with our school community. Photos courtesy of Mary LaMarche.
Deja Vu Women's Consignment here in Athol staged a scarf bombing. Miss Aurore and Miss Lorelai were happy to help. The girls enjoyed their volunteer time, "Aurore says it feels good doing good."
