The fruit bowl
The Fruit Bowl
The Fruit Bowl is a farm that has been growing an assortment of fruit, veggies and grains but mainly peaches and apples for the last 25 years in Australia. The fruit bowl is in high demand due to the increase in the population and some reckon they should be growing more. This would be fine if it wasn't for the lack of water. In the dry season the farmers and environment are already taking their toll. The less water there is, the less fertile the dirt is, and the less food for us! But there are also worries about how farming could effect the environment. Whole ecosystems live here that aren't found anywhere else in the world. And people are afraid that farming would put that at risk.
Some reckon we could move the food bowl to Tasmania, but other say we should just be smarter about the ways we use the farming land so we can carry on growing great Australian food.
