ASVAB Testing
Any students looking to take the ASVAB test (www.asvabprogram.com) should contact Mae Fernandez (mae.fernandez@bristoltwpsd.org) ASAP to register for the in-person exam. The ASVAB is a career exploration assessment but is also crucial for those looking to enlist in the military.

Course Selection
Act 158
The new legislation in Pennsylvania, Act 158, has made a huge impact on school districts and required students to graduate through a specific pathway. Our counseling team created the graphic below to summarize these pathways. A full copy of this document can be found here.
In short, here are some highlights:
- Proficient scores on the Algebra I, Literature, and Biology Keystone exams are the most direct pathways to graduation. We have a great project in the works for a Keystone Exam boot camp, free, after-school, and at Truman for any student. Stay tuned!
- Other tests, such as PSAT, SAT, AP, ACT, ASVAB, etc. can qualify students for a pathway, depending on their scores.
- Alternative pathways include full-time employment, military enlistment, which combine with other academic pieces. Counselors will work with students who might qualify on one of these pathways.
- Certain students can graduate on their IEP goals as they've done previously.
We will continue to share and communicate this information as we go through this major change mandated by PDE and will work collaboratively with families to find success with each student.
