A Message from Mr. Benning, Athletic Director
Welcome back to another year of St. Francis Catholic School Wolves athletics.
We will begin the year with a parent meeting on Monday, August 12 at 6:00 pm in the gym. In order to have a smooth beginning to the Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country and Girls’ Volleyball seasons, there are several items that must be attended to. Before the meeting, please have the permission/waiver form for your particular sport completed. This must be completed before any athlete may practice. Forms are included below including the Sports Physical Form. All athletes must have a physical each year before they may begin an activity.
In order to facilitate the volunteer sign-up process, Mr. Misko will again be setting up the website for you to schedule your volunteer times for the upcoming volleyball season. The link will be sent at a later date.
Please note that Diocesan Policy dictates that all volunteers who have contact with or are around children must have completed a Diocesan Background Screening and the Safe Haven on-line course. The information on these programs is also below. Please contact the school office for more information on these programs.
All of the above forms can also be found on the school website and ParentsWeb.
If you have any questions, please contact me at jbenning@sfcshhi.com.
Thanks,
Joseph R. Benning
Athletic Director/MS Mathematics
Did you know...?
All educational school councils in the Diocese of Charleston are advisory in nature. The members are volunteers selected from the local community to provide input and support to the principal. Their duties do not include becoming involved with parents/guardians, teachers, or students or taking action with respect to personnel issues regarding individual students, faculty or staff. The council members participate in the development of fiscal, academic, and program recommendations for the school.
In elementary schools the pastor shall normally consult with the school advisory council on the following:
- Development of site policies for the school’s operation
- Implementation of the school’s strategic plan
- Development of the school’s operating budget and school’s tuition rates

Thinking of Becoming Catholic?
If you're sending your child to Catholic school but aren't Catholic yourself, you might have thought about it from time to time. Every school year, a group of people meet to learn more about Jesus, the Bible, prayer and the Catholic Church while they consider whether or not to become Catholic. That group is called RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), and this year the RCIA is being led by Ms. McGlynn.
Elementary school is a very busy time in the life of a family, but any parents of teenagers will tell you it only gets busier. If you've read this far, say a prayer asking God if this is the year he wants you to become Catholic, and then call or text Ms. McGlynn at (843) 900-4303, or email her at jmcglynn@sfcshhi.com to talk about the possibility.
Focus Group with Principal John McCarthy - Wednesday, August 7th
Please RSVP with Mr. Brian Pope at bpope@sfcshhi.com if you would like to attend. There is a limited amount of space available.
