November IB Profile Trait: Communicator
This month, Arroyo Bears are encouraged to be Communicators. Here are some ways that you can help develop your student’s communication skills:
- When working on homework, encourage your child to explain their answer to you
- Emphasize that listening is part of being a good communicator.
- Ask your child questions that require them to think critically and have them discuss with you. For example:
o What would you do if you were scared of someone at school?
o Were you proud of yourself today? Why or why not?
o What invention do you think the world needs?
o If you could spend one day with a person, who would it be and what would you do?

Monitoring Student Use of District Technology
- During Zoom class, students should not be on other websites (you tube, games, etc)
- Students should not be emailing one another with student email addresses
- Students should not be setting up Zoom meetings with other students using school accounts
- School personnel may use Lanschool Air to monitor student screens and the district has all search history...please discuss this important information with your child.
You may also refer to the 'Acceptable Use Policy' that was signed at the time of device check-out for more information. As a reminder, students who are not following the technology expectations will receive a behavior referral.
First Trimester Awards
Reindeer Run
Hello OMSD staff and families, please plan to join us for the 8th Annual Reindeer Run and Rudolph Dash to support Promise Scholars This event will be VIRTUAL and held on Saturday, Dec. 12th. Take part from the comfort of your home or a local park trail. Our virtual event is a fun way to exercise with family, take a walk around the block with your dog dressed up in a holiday outfit, or jog around the neighborhood to support our students through Promise Scholars.
Tag us on Instagram or Twitter @OntMontPS with photos of you and your family dressed up in holiday gear or your dog friend on the day of the virtual event for chances to win prizes. It is about 6,250 steps to equal a 5K, so plan your route and get on the move. Don’t forget to wear a mask to protect your friends and family and have fun!
For adults the City is doing a $20 5K Run/Walk. To register, link here: http://www.ontario5krun.com/
For students we are doing a $5 1K Dash (link below). There will be prizes drawn from the 1K Rudolph Dash participants and after Dec. 1 students can pick up Dash bibs at their school sites during meal pick-ups. https://bit.ly/34DPgyE
