Miss Jenna Teixeira
University of Notre Dame
About Me:
I am an aspiring teacher from Perth, Western Australia. I have an identical twin sister and was born in Pretoria in South Africa. I am half south African, half Portuguese so my family is very large and close. I come from a Catholic faith and have been in the Catholic education system all my life. I love going to the beach, dancing and bike riding.
Schooling and current studies:
I attended high school at Santa Maria College, and decided to further my studies at the University of Notre Dame. I am currently in my second year of university, completely a Bachelor of Education (Primary), specialising in HASS. Teaching has always been something I wanted to study after school as I thoroughly enjoy working with children.
Work experience:
As this is my first year studying teaching and at Notre Dame, I have not yet completed my practicum. For me, this will take place in November. I am very excited for this experience as I know it will be a challenging, yet rewarding experience. I have however, volunteered in Kindy at Yidarra Catholic primary school. There I completed my community service and participated in activities such as supervising and interacting with the children, laminating, photocopying and various other things the teacher required.
Talents:
I am very dedicated to everything I do, and have a very strong work ethic. In highschool, as a result of my dedication to the schools Arts program, I was nominated as the Middleschool cultural captain. This was a very rewarding experience as I learnt many leadership skills that have, and will benefit me in the future.
Career aspirations and Goals:
My ultimate career goal is to become an effective primary school teacher. I wish to be a teacher who is easily approachable and whose classroom students feel comfortable in. I would also one day like to travel to a third world country, teaching English or building schools.
