Thanksgiving Break
The first part of this year has gone by so quickly, even in this strange time that we find ourselves in. There is so much to be thankful for! We are thankful for our students who show up in their classroom conferences every day ready to learn – they give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. We are thankful for the support of the parents in supporting students in this virtual world and creating an outstanding partnership for our students. We are thankful for the teachers, para-educators, nurses, office staff, counselors, kitchen staff, support staff, therapists and administrators who really care about every student. They have the best interests of our students at heart.
There will be no school for students on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27

ZOOM
I’m sure by now, you have heard that the district is transitioning from Big Blue Button to Zoom as our video conferencing platform. Canvas will continue to be the Learning Management System, but we will move to Zoom as the conferencing platform. This move is in an effort to reduce the challenges of audio & video quality that were experienced with Big Blue Button.
The transition is set to begin today, and it is expected that all classes will move to Zoom by Jan. 4. We realize that consistency is so important for our students and while you may see a slightly different video format, it is our hope that the change will lead to better audio and video quality and fewer learning disruptions.
If you have questions about the product, need help navigating Zoom or have concerns about your child utilizing this platform click on the Student Guide for Zoom button below or go to www.fpschools.org/zoom.

COMMUNICATION…HOW DO FAMILIES KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING AT BROOKDALE?
There are a number of ways that we keep families informed of the exciting things happening at Brookdale.
- The Brookdale Bobcat Prints is published and posted on the Brookdale website and sent to directly to your email address twice a month. This newsletter lets you know what’s coming up, with some articles of information.
- The Sunday night phone call from the principal. This message keeps families up to date with important information, not to mention what is happening during the week.
- Emails and newsletters from your child's teacher.
To keep informed we must have a current phone number and email address on record for your family. If you are not receiving these communications, please call our school office at 253.298.3100 and we will be happy to assist you.
