What is Jazz n' Java?
Every year, the High School Jazz Band (also known as the Swingin' Blues) hosts the Swing City Big Band to give our young jazz students a few hours of training, then we head to the middle school stage and turn that APR into a coffee shop! Admission is free and you can purchase coffee and dessert by donation. Come hear a great night of Jazz!
We do need some donations for desserts. Please click HERE to help!
THANKS TO OUR HARD WORKING/ AND SUPPORTIVE BAND BOOSTERS......
They have taken care of us in MANY ways. Paid for many things like part of the Band trip, the buses for the football season, provided opportunities such as the Band Family BBQ, Senior 3rd quarter banquet, ALL of the awesome food at the concession stand and the band barn, AND they have given us the wonderful May concert at LCCC's Stocker Center! Make sure and give them a big thank you!

Private Lessons
Private Lessons are essential for musicians. There are many times we hear "I wish I can sound like that". They sound that way because they take private lessons! Baldwin Wallace has an AMAZING music department with an OUTSTANDING private lessons program. We need to take full advantage of this opportunity! Click HERE for details!!!!
Time to start thinking about summer band camps!
There are a lot of summer opportunities for Band students. Baldwin Wallace, and Wooster have amazing camps to name a few. If interested in pursuing a summer musical event, talk to Mr. B!

Tri-M
What is Tri-M?
Tri-M is short for Modern Music Masters. It is an honors society for musicians. If you are interested in joining, you must be performing at the top of your ability regularly and always providing help for other students and directors. For more answers, ask Mr. B!
Your instrument needs an oil change and new tires!!!
Yes, you read that correctly. An instrument is very much like a car. Every 3,000 miles (one school year for brass, 1 marching season for woodwinds) your instrument needs a tune up. Take it to a music store for maintenance, so your instrument is ALWAYS in good working order.
Instrument Maintenance
HERE are some excellent videos on how to keep your instrument in good quality working order.
Listening Lab
To really know how to do something, it is most often better to watch first. In our case (being musicians), we must listen to as much music as possible. You should be listening to professional soloists of your instrument, and listen to professional Bands (Tokyo Kosei for example) performing you concert music. Tonal Energy Tuner has a wonderful website that has perfect example of professional instrumental soloists for any listener
