2 New Art Classes!
Hope everyone's summer is going amazingly! Mine has been sleepless, diaper-full, spit-upy and filled with precious memories of our spirited 3 year old and chunky, laid-back 3 month old bonding together! (see pic below) Both girls made debuts at art camp and Violet is often in the classes with me, since she's not interested in a bottle AT ALL... She gives her daddy a run for his money when he can't feed her! I would love for you to meet her, if you haven't already! :)
New Fall Class Concept!
I'm really excited about the art program I'm offering for the fall. It will kind of be like art camp broken into 8 weeks, taking place each Friday for an hour and 45 minutes. The projects will be different from those created in art camp this summer. My goal is to experiment with 7 different mediums and the 8th class will be a Grand Finale Art Show to share their work with friends and family!! They LOVE doing this!
I think it's SO important for kids to experience all kinds of different supplies and to have some creative freedom while doing it. I allow for them to create their masterpiece how THEY think it looks beautiful, not how I think it should look. If they would rather have a purple sunshine and green clouds, (just an example) I let them! So often true creativity is stifled by messages we hear from others about how art "should" be! Kids are INCREDIBLY creative and do not need to be graded or critiqued on their "artistic abilities".
We will:
- create with clay
- paint with acrylic and watercolor
- make something cool out of paper mache
- sew! and/or weave
- collage
- use oil pastels
- make special jewelry with leather and metal
- And maybe more if there's something they REALLY want to do, or if the class doesn't want to do one of the above, then we don't have to.
We will also be talking about why it's SUPER important to be true to ourselves, accepting of others, honest and kind. And why each of us is unique in our own special ways! We talk about these things in art camp, but I don't think we can hear enough about it. Especially when they are in school all day, facing all kinds of struggles!

The birthday boy or girl can choose what they want to paint/create, then all of their friends leave with a fun memory and an awesome masterpiece! No mess at your house. Just bring cupcakes (or even better... let my baker friend make them for you!) and the birthday kid, and we'll have a BLAST! Contact me for more info.
