Thanks Parents!

It has been an honor for me to teach your child this semester. The support you have provided is appreciated and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the time and energy you have put forth to ensure your child met the assignment deadlines. This newsletter will provide you with information about upcoming dates and the final exam requirements.

November 21 Assignment Deadline

The final assignment deadline for fall semester is Friday, November 21. Your child will have until 11:59 p.m., November 21 to submit assignments referenced for the Weeks of November 10 -14 and November 17-21. If your child does not submit all assignments by the November 21, deadline. The final date assignments from this assignment phase can be accepted is Tuesday, December 2. A 10% late penalty will be received each day the assignment is not submitted.
Note: Because the Week of November 24-28 has been designated as the Thanksgiving Holidays, the late penalty will be applied as follows:
  • If the assignment is submitted November 22 - December 1, a 10% late penalty will be applied. If the assignment is submitted December 2, a 20% late penalty will be applied.

Thanksgiving Holidays

The Georgia Virtual School (GaVS) will observe Thanksgiving Holidays beginning Monday, November 24 through Friday, November 28. During that week, I will be available to answer emails Monday through Wednesday. I will not grade assignments submitted that week. Students are not required to complete assignments during the break but the GaVS server should be available if your child would like to access his/her course.

Final Exam Information

The final exam will count for 20% of your child's final grade. The comprehensive objective exam will be available at 12:00 midnight on December 3 and will be available through 11:59 p.m. December 4. Your child will have one attempt to complete the exam and can do so on December 3 or 4. Noted below are details regarding your child's exam.

Fundamentals of Web Design A
The objective comprehensive exam will include a combination of 50 true/false and multiple choice questions. Your child will have 75 minutes to attempt the exam. The exam will cover information from the Introduction (Computer History) Unit through the Manipulating Images in Expression Web unit.

Introduction to Digital Technology A
The objective comprehensive exam will include a combination of 50 true/false and multiple choice questions. Your child will have 75 minutes to attempt the exam. The exam will cover information from the FBLA Leadership Development Unit through the Information Technology Careers Part 1 Unit.

Your child's final grade will be based on the following evaluation.

Assignments/Discussions - 30%
Projects - 30%
Quizzes - 20%
Final Exam - 20%

You will be able to view your child's final official grade via the Registration Portal on Thursday, December 11.

Speak Up, is a national online research project facilitated by Project Tomorrow®. The project gives administrators, teachers, parents, and students the opportunity to share their viewpoints about key educational issues, particularly concerning 21st century education and technology. Each year, findings are summarized and shared with national and state policy makers.
