Positivity Project: Other People Matter Mindset Outro Week
This week our students will return to their study of the Other People Matter Mindset and will reflect on what they have learned so far this year in Positivity Project and how that knowledge has impacted them as a member of our school community and the greater world. Our Cheetahs are learning so much through their P2 Lessons each day, be sure to ask your students about their favorite character strength!
“It's not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something. May I suggest that it be creating joy for others, sharing what we have for the betterment of personkind, bringing hope to the lost and love to the lonely.”
― Leo BuscagliaGerm Season Reminders
Help protect your children -- and their classmates -- when they're under the weather, so that they can return to the classroom healthy and ready to learn.
When your child is sick
The best thing you can do is to keep your children home when sick. This will help stop the spread of illness to other children and teachers. Keep them home when they show any of these symptoms:
o fever of 100 degrees F or higher
o nausea or vomiting
o severe headache
o diarrhea
o red, watery eyes with yellow drainage
o undiagnosed rash
Children should stay home until they have been naturally without fever for at least 24 hours.
Please do not give children fever-reducing medication and then send them to school.
If you are called to pick up a sick child at school, please come quickly. If you know your child has been exposed to someone diagnosed with the flu virus, call your doctor immediately to find out what to do.
State law (Garrett's Law) requires us to provide you with information about meningococcal meningitis, influenza (flu), and human papillomavirus (HPV) and the vaccines that protect against these diseases.

Kids Heart Challenge!
It’s time for the Kids Heart Challenge! Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death for all Americans, and up to 80% of it may be preventable through lifestyle changes? Kids Heart Challenge is a service-learning program that will teach your child the importance of heart-healthy habits, share inspirational stories of children who have been touched by heart disease and help raise life saving funds for the American Heart Association.
Donations for our challenge can be made online! Sign up at http://www2.heart.org/goto/hollyspringselem or download the free mobile app "Kids Heart Challenge" in your phones mobile app store! Students will learn more about the challenge and heart healthy habits in their regular PE class as well! Please contact Melissa at melisllew@gmail.com with your PTA with any questions!

WAKE Up and Read Book Drive
It’s time for WAKE Up and Read’s Annual Book Drive. HSES will be collecting new and gently-used books for children ages birth-12 until February 7th.
Their goal is to collect 130,000 books – enough to share at thirteen schools, as well as community centers and child care facilities across Wake County. The books collected enable children and families in Wake County to have access to self-selected books in the home. Books can be dropped off in the bin in the lobby.
Cheetahs Got Talent!
The Talent Show will take place on February 20th at 6:00 pm. Come and join us for a great show!
