The LISD RAPPort | November 2022
November 17th, 2022
LISD Families,
November is one of my favorite months of the year. It is the time of year where I am reminded of all of the things I am grateful for. This year, my most humbling sense of gratitude comes from being the leader of this incredible district. I’m grateful for our amazing staff, our students, and for each of you - the families that make up the LISD community.
Believe it or not, this time of year is busy with planning for the next school year. In this edition of The LISD RAPPort, there is an input opportunity for you as we seek feedback for the 2023-24 Academic Calendar. Transfers for the 2023-24 school year are now open, applications for next year’s Collegiate Academy will be available soon, and we are hosting Early Childhood parent sessions to support families throughout our district. Keep reading for details.
This fall semester has been packed full of incredible accomplishments by our students and staff, and I am excited to finish the semester strong with each of you when we return from Thanksgiving break. I hope you are able to enjoy some time with those you love next week, and we will see you soon.
With gratitude,
Dr. Lori Rapp
Superintendent of Schools

CONGRATULATIONS, NEWLY-ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES!

LISD is looking forward to working alongside local lawmakers in the upcoming legislative session to represent the interests of the communities we all serve. Ahead of the legislative session, I wrote an article emphasizing the importance of State funding to support Texas Public Schools. You can read that article here.

Early Fall Transfer Window Open for 2023-24
The Early Fall Transfer Window for the 2023-2024 school year is now open. During this time, Lewisville ISD allows families to request enrollment at a school other than the one zoned for their address during specific time frames throughout the school year. During this early window, requests may only be made by current LISD students in grades K-11. If you have students in these grades, the transfer request form will be available in your Skyward Family Access account now through Dec. 2 under “Online Forms."
All families received an email on Nov. 14 with the subject line "Early Fall Transfer Window | Nov. 14", that contained additional details on this transfer window. To find out more about specific transfer approval requirements, visit LISD.net/transfers.
Collegiate Academy Applications Open Tomorrow
The Lewisville ISD Collegiate Academy at TCHS gives LISD 2023-24 incoming freshmen the opportunity to earn an associate’s degree or up to 60 hours of dual credit during their high school career. Regardless of what campus your child is zoned to attend, they are eligible to apply for acceptance into the academy. Applications will open tomorrow, Nov. 18, and will close Dec. 12 at 4:30 p.m. Access applications in Skyward Student Access.
All interested students and families are invited to an information session tonight at Lewisville High School or The Colony High School. The meetings will take place in both school’s auditoriums from 6 -7 p.m. For more information visit LISD.net/academy or email collegiateacademy@lisd.net.

Hebron Band Claims Silver in UIL Finals
The success of Lewisville ISD’s marching band programs continued when Hebron High School claimed silver at the 2022 6A UIL State Marching Contest. This is the tenth-straight contest that an LISD program has finished in the top three of the UIL’s highest class, dating back to 2006. All three of LISD’s competing bands, Flower Mound, Hebron and Marcus, advanced to the final round of the State competition.
Sharing the Universal Love of the Outdoors
Emerging bilingual students at Lewisville High School’s Harmon and Killough campuses recently experienced the environmental education experience provided by LISD’s Outdoor Learning Area (LISDOLA). The biology students, all sophomores on their respective campuses, participated in LISDOLA’s “BioBlitz,” which pairs small groups with expert volunteers from state and local organizations, such as the Master Naturalists and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
