Captain's Log
PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
AHOY, PIRATES!
What an awesome holiday and extended weekend we had! The weekend started with the celebration of life for Mr. Ronald Storey. Mr. Nelson was asked to speak to those assembled. During his speech, he talked about how Mr. Storey held himself and those around him to high expectations. We also heard stories of how, without speaking (probably blowing a whistle), he could settle the children. His daughter told a very compelling story as she fondly remembered her father. She talked about how he would never give up on children and how he always taught them and her that you can do anything as long as you put in the work. Wow! How fitting! Each year we come to the end of the year where our work will speak for us. It will tell the story of the things we did or did not do. It will tell how amazing our faculstaff is and how awesome our children are. Our work now is to never give up on our children - even when they and their lives present challenges. Challenges are meant to be hurdles, torn down, and worked around. We thank Mr. Storey for living a life that still speaks to us today. It is because of men such as he that we stand on solid ground today. He and others such as you have paved the way for our children. For that, I say thank you. Let's make it a great week!
With that, I submit the Captain’s Log. #committedtoeXcellence #eXcellencemarksthespot #finishstrong cje
Announcements
State Testing Begins: It is testing time for our children. Please take the time to make sure our students stay as relaxed as possible and that they are motivated vs. fearful of their assessments. Remember children will pattern their behavior after ours. If we are excited and confident, it gives them permission to be the same way. Pirates love MAAPs; they take us to treasures untold!
Kindergarten Round-Up: Ahoy, Mateys! It is time to begin the onboarding process for the class of 2032. This year we will have Pirate themed round-up! If you know of children who will turn 5 on or before September 1, 2019, please invite them and their parents to visit our schools for this event. They will get a headstart on registration and learn all about our elementary schools.
When: April 29, 2019
Times: 8-10 am and 5-6 pm
Exit Interviews: Those who would like to have an exit interview, please call Mrs. Curry at extension 121 or Mrs. Saucier at extension 100 to schedule a time to discuss your Pirate experience.
We have now made it easier and more private for you to complete your exit interview. Mrs. Liles forwarded the link to the document. We are asking those leaving, if not already done, to complete the short survey.

Pirate Academy - Golden Opportunity
Though shortened, the day seemed to go well. We have seen posts from participants sharing the sentiment. The fun part of the day was watching everyone discover the hidden eggs. The GOLDEN EGG was found by Mrs. Moore, SpEducator, of PCMS. Mrs. Moore will have an opportunity to attend a regional learning opportunity. Congratulations, Mrs. Moore!
Thanks and kudos go out to the curriculum team and presenters for a job well done!
