You’ve Been Jingled!
A Christmas game that brings JOY. This year we would like ALL staff members to participate and spread some cheer to get us through the rest of the year.
Starting Friday, December 3rd- December 17th.
Directions:
Everyone should have received a Santa tag with a staff members name. You will then gift the assigned staff member with a treat to make their day. Treats can be anything you would like (cookies, candy, popcorn, etc. minimum of $1.50-$5.00).
If you decide not to participate, please drop off your Santa tag in the labeled box in the Main Office as soon as you can.
Don’t forget to place your Santa tag outside of your room, so we know who is getting JINGLED.
Let’s get into the holiday spirit Malabar!
Tuesday PD/Faculty Meeting
Preparing for Winter Break
Please make sure that you secure the following in your classrooms before leaving on Winter Break:
- Place all equipment in a secure location
- Lock all chromebooks in the cart
- Check your windows to make sure they are locked
- Secure any personal items or take them home.
- If you are locking any cabinets with your own personal lock, please give a copy of the key to the office.
- Unplug all electronics.
- Take down any Christmas decorations
- Ensure that no food or snacks are left in the classroom to avoid attracting rodents
We have been fortunate that Malabar has not been a place for theft but we must be careful.

Message from the Title 3 Instructional Coach-Ricardo Melendez
We’ve made it to the last week of instruction before winter break! We hit the ground running this year and it’s time for a much-deserved break. Come to think about it, our English Learners will be on break as well!
This week plan time to ensure that our English Learners know how to access Rosetta Stone and have time to practice logging on and using app during dELD. It’s important to their language development that they practice over the winter break. I will be here on Monday and Wednesday this week if you need additional support.
I would like to wish all you a safe and Happy Holiday season.
2021-2022 SPSA Measurable Goal
By June 2022, English Learners scoring proficient (Overall Level 4) on ELPAC will increase from 7% to 30% as measured by the Summative ELPAC assessment.
STEAM Ahead with our Instructional Coach-Angela Muro
Hello colleagues! On this last week of school for 2021, I want to thank you all for your hard work toward increasing our students’ understanding of STEAM concepts. I know that this week will speed by, and we will all be on a much-deserved winter break. Take time to rest and enjoy yourselves. I wish you and yours Happy Holidays and look forward to seeing you in the new year!
Warmly,
Angie
Self Care Tips from our PSW-Denise Gonzalez
Self Care Tip:
Over the last two years, teaching has meant an increase in screen time and technology use which has included several electronics keeping you busy with rings, beeps, blinks, flags, and badges. Just for a moment, turn them all off and put them away. Give yourself permission to completely tune out during your winter break and replace that time with something you enjoy!
Malabar Staff, it has been my pleasure to work alongside you in serving our students, parents, and communities. The last 4 years have been a whirlwind, I came in ready to join you during a strike and leave during a pandemic, wow! I will miss our students and you all, thank you.
Instructional Schedules
Focus on Classroom Observations-Standard 3: Delivery of Instruction
As we visit classrooms, we will be focusing on the following two elements:
3b2. Discussion Techniques and Student Participation Techniques are used to ensure that all students share their thinking around challenging questionsEffective Practice: Teacher uses intentional, differentiated strategies to engage all students in discussion, attempting gradual release from teacher-directed to student initiated conversation. Students participate in intellectually challenging discussions.
3c1. Standards-Based Projects, Activities and Assignments Standards-aligned learning activities cognitively engage students in the lesson
Effective Practice: Instructional projects, activities and assignments are aligned to the instructional standards, require higher levels of thinking, are culturally relevant, and may include real-world application. Most students are cognitively engaged, constructing their own understanding and exploring content. The learning activities are differentiated, as necessary, to meet the learning needs of student subgroups.
