Bus Tour of Local Agencies that Support Students with Special Needs
Come ride with us as we take a tour of several local agencies, facilities, and group homes that support students with special needs after they leave public school. We will spend 20-25 minutes at each location.
Training Location: AACOG (8700 Tesoro Drive; SATX 78217)
The tour will begin at AACOG and then you will load the bus to travel to different locations around town.
The bus will make a stop for lunch and lunch will be on your own. The bus will return to AACOG by 2:30 p.m.

Social Emotional Development in Preschool: Avoiding Power Struggles
Young children’s social emotional development is vital to their overall well-being, affecting their success in school and their ability to learn in all subject areas. Join us as we explore strategies for avoiding or minimizing power struggles with children and encouraging children’s sense of competence. Participants will learn strategies for reducing power struggles at home, identify the importance of sharing control with children, and learn the difference between free and limited choices. This will be an active learning, participatory training – come ready to have some fun!

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) 101 for Parents
Challenging behaviors may often disrupt the learning environment for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. When typical behavior programs do not work and the behavior continues, what do you do? This training addresses how to assess the challenging behaviors to better identify the core issue. You will then learn the strategies and tools that can support a positive learning environment.
