Week of October 18th

Greetings Lenox Families/Saludos Familias Lenox

Bulb planting was a huge success! Students and staff were so excited to be carrying on the Lenox tradition that spans more than 40 years. Shoutout to a few of our families that helped prep the trenches used for planting and to Farmington Gardens for donating daffodil bulbs so that every student and staff member could participate. Be on the lookout for flowers as they begin to bloom between late winter and early spring and be sure to ask your student where they planted their bulb. Check out pictures of the event on both our instagram and website shared below.

News & Notes You Need to Know

Change in Arrival Procedures

Starting Monday, October 18th, ALL K-4 students need to enter through the front doors at arrival. If a student would like breakfast, they will go to the cafeteria and if they do not want breakfast, they will go to the gym. ALL 5&6 students will go to the back of the building and stage under the intermediate covered area. With the cold and rainy weather approaching, this change will allow all students to be under a covered area.

Arrival/Dismissal Reminders

  • Please pull all the way forward at both arrival/dismissal. Doing so allows the back up on Rock Creek Blvd to be minimized and keeps students safe as they enter/exit vehicles in this area
  • If your student(s) arrives at or after 7:45am, they need to enter through the front doors. If students are not in their classrooms by 7:45, they are marked tardy.
  • Please be aware of your surroundings and speed in and near our parking lot. Be sure to utilize crosswalks at all times.

Great Oregon Shakeout

Thursday, October 21st is the Great Oregon Shakeout. This is a great opportunity to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies. You can find great resources HERE.

National School Bus Safety Week is (October 18-22, 2021).

National School Bus Safety Week is held each year during the third full week of October and focuses on the importance of school bus safety. Whether your student rides a bus this school year or not, here are a few safety tips for your student from the Hillsboro Safe Routes to School Program:

• While waiting for a bus, stay in a safe place away from the street.

• Once off a bus, take 10 giant steps away from the bus.

• Walk in front of the bus to cross the street, and make sure that the bus driver sees you before you step off the curb.

When to Keep Your Child Home

A healthy environment involves prevention, early recognition of illness, symptoms, prompt diagnosis and treatment. Below are some guidelines to help you make the decision about when to keep your child home from school. The recommendations are based on the guidelines provided to us by the Communicable Disease Program of the Washington County Department of Health and Human Services.
