What is Cockayne Syndrome?

Cockayne syndrome is a disorder characterized by short stature and appearance of premature aging.


1 out 12 babies have Cockayne Syndrome. Cockayne Syndrome is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner, both parents of an affected child obligate carriers of an abnormal gene.

Sighns & Symptoms

When diagnose with Cockayne syndrome the person can't grow like a normal kid would and their head is smaller. Some symptoms of Cockayne syndrome are sensitivity to sunlight, hunched back, and difficult walking. There are no specific body parts that are affected, the whole body is affected.
