December News and Views

December is going to be filled with lots of activity. We need your child in school. Our tardy bell rings at 8:00 am. Students are expected to be in the building and inside their room at 8:00 am. If you arrive after 8:00 am, please park and bring your child into the office to check them in. All students (K-4) will begin taking the mid-year assessment for i-Ready Dec. 6-16th. We use this data to measure students' progress in the areas of reading and math. Teachers will share the results with parents after the Winter Holidays.

Our school system will start using School Status as our communication system beginning January 3, 2022. This will replace 'Remind' messaging. Please make sure that we have up-to-date contact information for you so you will receive all communications.

Several parents have expressed concerns about our procedures regarding visitors. I want to explain why we did not have Thanksgiving Lunch this year and have not had parents eating lunch with their students and some schools have. Our lunchroom has been without an assistant CNP manager all year. That has meant that they are frequently short-staffed. Shortages and issues with our food supplies have caused us to have frequent changes to our lunch menus. FVES is also feeding 364 daily students without having updated kitchen equipment and serving lines. We are working closely with Mrs. Donette Worthy to have this redesigned. Our plan is to have parents come to sit with their child at lunch on assigned days beginning in January 2022. Please continue to be patient with us as we work through these issues and don't hesitate to reach out at gmonroe@tcss.net.

We want to invite you to join us for our school sing along on Friday, December 17th at 9:00 am in the gym! We always have a great time.
