Principal's Letter
Greetings Lake Windward Elementary Families,
On Friday, October 25th, the Georgia Department of Education released the 2019 College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) scores for all public schools in the state. CCRPI is a rating system that looks at four categories: Content Mastery, Progress, Performance Gaps, and Readiness. Students' performance on the Georgia Milestones assessments as well as student attendance and other indicators are used to produce a rating. I am proud to announce that our school maintained its 'A rating' (93.5) for the 8th year in a row!! In addition, schools get a climate score and rating. LWE earned a climate score of 99.10 and a 5 Star rating for the 3rd year in row! This climate score is based off of parent, student, and staff surveys as well as attendance and student discipline.
I continue to be so proud of our school community! Lets keep working together to make Lake Windward the BEST place for our students to learn and grow!! If you'd like to review the scores in more detail please use the following link: http://ccrpi.gadoe.org/Reports/Views/Shared/_Layout.html
Thank you to our families who came out for our Movie Night and to all of our students and staff who supported Red Ribbon Week. We've had non-stop fun and excitement around here, along with a lot of learning!! One of the highlights of my week last week was the Legacy of Excellence Awards Luncheon. I got to participate in the celebration of our 2019 Teachers and Professionals of the Year. It was wonderful to see Ms. Michelle Levesque, TOTY, and Mrs. Blair Boyle, POTY, get recognized for their amazing contributions to LWE!
Warm regards,
Julie Morris

Classroom Highlights!
Digital Literacy emphasizes skills students need to interact with technology and digital media resources in this modern world.
We engage with technology daily - both at home and at school - so let’s encourage best and safe practices!
In addition to learning Digital Citizenship, students also participate in exploring keyboarding skills during Super Specials.
How can you help?
Have you heard of or seen your students work through the EasyTech Keyboarding program Fulton County Schools supports? Learn more here - https://youtu.be/xl8Y1LkPezY
Students can access this platform through ClassLink where they are guided through self-paced/adaptive lessons that teach typing and computer processing skills.

Procedure for Absence Approval in Extenuating Circumstances
Students should be present in school every day unless illness or other extenuating circumstances exist. The Georgia Board of Education lawfully excuses students for the following reasons: personal illness, death in the immediate family, religious holidays, and other educational days as pre-approved by the school principal. The principal has at his/her discretion according to Board Policy the option to approve a maximum of six (6) days per student per school year in extenuating circumstances. Parents/guardians must notify the principal of their request by completing the request form located on the school website at least two weeks prior to the absence. Submission of parental/guardian request does not grant automatic approval. A school administrator or designee will contact the parents/guardian upon the final decision. As in the past, absences for illness, death in the family or religious holidays can be approved by your child's teacher by sending in a signed note from you.
- The principal approval form is to be used for extenuating circumstances only, as stated in the information above.
- Two weeks ahead of the planned absence, print and complete the request form located on the Lake Windward website.
- One form is required per student.
- Submit the completed, signed, and dated form to the Lake Windward front office.
- Your student’s attendance record will be taken into consideration when reviewing your request.
- A copy of the decision to accept, decline or amend your request, will be sent to you and your child’s homeroom teacher.
Email requests will not be accepted
