No Place for Hate
From the Counselor:
This is our first year as a 'No Place for Hate' school. I know it has been mentioned here and there, but I wanted to take some time to explain a bit.
No Place for Hate helps to create and sustain inclusive school environments where all students feel valued and have the opportunity to succeed by promoting respect for individual differences while challenging bigotry and prejudice. We will kick off the year with the No Place for Hate Pledge, better known as the Resolution of Respect, on the week of November 13th.
November’s Core Value
Gratitude: Letting others know you see how they’ve helped you.
During the month of November, please remember to give thanks for all that you have. If you can, give to others who are less fortunate. Millsap is currently collecting canned food donations for our annual Food Drive. All donated items will go to the Cypress Assistance Ministries; this is a non-profit organization that helps families in our immediate area.
Notes from Our Nurse
Medication Administration
Medication is to be delivered and picked up by a parent or guardian and brought to the clinic in the original container labeled with child's name, name of the medication and directions for the time and dosage. Physician's name must be on prescription medication. Students may not carry medications - including cough drops.
Guidelines for Keeping Sick Children Home from School
A sick child who is unable to participate in school in a meaningful way should be kept home to rest and recover until symptoms resolve. Keeping a sick child home also protects other children, school staff, and visiting community members from contracting an illness that can be spread from person to person. Please be aware of the following guidelines for school attendance.
- Fever: A child should remain home with fever greater than 100° F and should only return after he/she has been fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin.
- Diarrhea/Vomiting: A child with diarrhea and/or vomiting should stay at home and return to school only after being symptom free for 24 hours.
- Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Following a diagnosis of pink eye, a child may return to school 24 hours after the first dose of prescribed medication has been administered.
If you take your child to a healthcare provider for an illness, please be sure to request a written letter stating when your child may return to school.

Traffic Flow
We are continuing to monitor the traffic flow in our Millsap car rider line. We are working with the Cy-Fair Police Department to determine the most effective solution. It was brought to our attention that we can provide input for the county to consider in determining whether a location is appropriate for a stop light. If you would like to provide input, please use the link below. Click on the Help button and complete the form. www.pct3.com
The Giving Tree
Please parents, take a look at our beautiful Giving Tree, painted by one of our wonderful volunteers!! This tree gives you the opportunity to bless the teachers at Millsap. Pick an apple off the tree and fulfill that teacher's wish. The apples have items that are valued at $10 and under. When you have fulfilled that teacher's wish, send it to school with your child with that teacher's name on it or drop it off at the front office. The teachers at Millsap are so excited about this and look forward to our support! Make our teachers’ dreams come true!!! The Giving Tree is located on the windows of the VIPS room; you can easily see it from the lunch room. Thank you in advance for your support!
