Hello Bushnell Families~
Happy Memorial Day weekend!
It's hard to believe we only have one more week of school. It has been an incredible year! We will miss our first graders as they head to Cherry Creek next year. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for your children to keep academically involved over the summer. Each year it is typical for us to see a drop in academic levels for many students following the summer break. Students who continue to read frequently and work on math activities over the summer are much more likely to avoid a summer drop in achievement levels. Remember, we are blessed to have our Arrow Readers on the Move in Lowell. Make sure to sign up for this on our website. Please try to set some goals with your child regarding how much reading and/or math practice he/she will do over the summer. Just a few hours each week can have a profound impact.
As we come closer to the end of our school year, please take a moment to fill out our Bushnell Survey in order to provide feedback to us! We value this information and welcome your thoughts! Survey Link
I've said it a lot but thank you to our Bushnell PTO group for all of their hard work this year. It is essential that we have a strong connection with the families we serve. Volunteering and spending time in the school your child attends is amazing. Please check out the photo of our PTO above!
Next Friday is a half day of school. If you'd like to donate an item or two for an end of year lunch for teachers provided by our PTO, check out this link.
Our yearbooks have arrived. We will be passing them out next week!
We still have some library books that need to be returned. Check around if your child has received a library notice and bring them in asap!
If anyone is willing to donate money to students who have lost a book, we would greatly appreciate that as well! Currently we have $81 in lost book fines which prevent students from checking out new books in the library each year until the fine is paid or the book is found.
Arrow Readers on the Move will continue this summer! This is a free mobile reading program, sponsored by Lowell Area Schools. Students in grades K-5 can check out library books and take AR tests. Prizes are awarded to students meeting their summer reading goals. There are several locations and days throughout the Summer to check out books. More info with specific dates are below.
The LHS sports teams have a variety of camps coming up! Please go to http://www.lowellsportscamps.com to register! Information is also available in a link below.

Even though the spring season isn't quite over yet, it's time to start thinking about tryouts for the fall season!
Tryouts this year will be Monday, June 12 and Tuesday, June 13 at the Lowell Township Park (12570 Grand River Drive). Your player will need to attend one of the two tryout dates at the times listed below based on their birth year. Registration and tryout times will be the same on both tryout dates.
Birth Years 2014-2017
Registration: 5:00-5:30pm
Tryouts: 5:45-6:45pm
Birth Years 2005-2013
Registration: 6:15-6:45pm
Tryouts: 7:00-8:00pm
This year, we are using the GVSA website to register for tryouts. Attached are instructions for how to register on the website for both new and returning LASSO players. Registering ahead of time will help the registration and check-in process move a lot faster during tryouts. We will also be posting the registration information on our website and Facebook page, so feel free to share with any other families that might be interested in joining LASSO!
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance registering.
Thank you and GO LASSO!
