Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming
Our staff has set the parent/teacher conference schedule. You will be hearing from them soon. Our goal is to have 100% of our families meet with teachers during this time. It is vital to the well being of the children we all care about. If the scheduled time does not work for you, please work with the teacher to schedule a new time.
Thank you Buckets!
Tustumena Elem. received a very generous $500.00 donation for the Halloween Carnival from Buckets Restaurant. Please tell them “Thank you” if you get the chance!
The Fall Carnival is Coming!
On Friday, October 28, our PTO will be sponsoring the Fall Carnival and Auction. This is one of the biggest and most fun events of the year. Even though it is a parent/teacher conference day (no students during the day) please plan on attending the carnival. Costumes are welcome even though Halloween is three days later. Good times for all. The PTO has already collected several items for the auction. It is going to be EPIC! So much so that our PTO has extended the time of the event to three hours, 6pm to 9PM! See you there.
The Book Fair is Coming!!! The TE Library Scholastic Book Fair will be October 24th through November 7th. The Online Book Fair opens October 19 through November 8th. (Go to scholastic.com/fair to find our online book fair.) Miss Thompson is looking for Parent volunteers to help set up the book fair on Oct. 21st and take it down on November 8th.
‘EVERY KID IN A PARK’ TO BE HELD FOR SECOND YEAR
The Obama Administration has just launched the second year of the Every Kid in a Park program. This program provides every fourth grader in America with a one-year pass so they and their families can visit federal lands for free for a full year - this includes National Parks, National Forests, and more! The intent of this program is to help connect children with nature and public lands, as someday these places will be theirs to protect and care for.
If you know a 4th grader or someone who has one in their family, ensure they visit the Every Kid in a Park website (www.everykidinapark.gov/) to get their pass
This is a student poll that is taken by all 5th graders in this School District as well as across the country. Tustumena has been involved in this poll for several years now, but it is not required that your child participate. If you should choose not to have your 5th grader participate, please return the signed parent notification letter to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. For more information, I would suggest that you go to the GALLUP POLL website at http://www.gallupstudentpoll.com to view the brochure and also the survey questions.
Thank you, Mr. Mills
