Notes & Reminders

Cold and flu season is upon us. Just a reminder that any cough drops or cold medicines need to come to the health office. Any over the counter medicines need a doctor note along with parent permission. Cough drops create another layer of concern because they can be a choking hazard. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

HACAP Accepting Applications for Adopt-A-Family Program

What: Adopt-A-Family, a seasonal holiday assistance program that connects families living in poverty with community donors who are willing to purchase basic needs and food items for families in the Cedar Rapids Metro area administered by the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program.

“The overall mission of the program is to help families provide their kids with the holiday traditions that they otherwise would not be able to afford. The Adopt-A-Family program gives members of our community the chance to leave a local family with a happier, less stressful holiday season.”

Spaces are limited based on the amount of donors HACAP receives. Families who apply for Adopt-A-Family are not automatically guaranteed assistance.

Donors who are looking to support a Cedar Rapids family this holiday season through the Adopt-A-Family program can sign up online by visiting www.hacap.org/adoptafamily. The deadline for donors to be a part of the program is December 18th, 2018.

When: November 1, 2018 – November 21, 2018

Who Qualifies: Families with elementary age children who participate in the Operation BackPack Program or who are currently receiving HACAP services.

Donor Sign-Up: www.hacap.org/adoptafamily
