Whitford Catholic Primary School
Newsletter 9 - 28th March 2018
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
As we journey through Holy Week, we invite you to slow down, attend our Easter Liturgy on Thursday and join our children in celebrating Easter with hearts that are renewed by the grace of the Holy Spirit. This will be a beautiful celebration and a lovely way to prepare for Easter. It would be great if you could come along to support our children and your attendance would be very much appreciated.
Principal Study Tour
Please be advised that Mrs Cath Hughes will be undertaking Principal responsibilities after the Easter break until the end of term whilst I am undertaking some study in Canada. I look forward to sharing highlights on my return and wish Mrs Cath Hughes well as she leads the school during this time.
Interschool Swimming Carnival and Joondalup Lantern Parade
A huge congratulations must go to staff and students involved in the recent Interschool Swimming Carnival and Joondalup Lantern Parade. The commitment of staff, students and families has been exceptional and not only have we achieved fabulous outcomes, but the enthusiasm, learning and teamwork demonstrated by our students must be celebrated and each must be commended. The time put in by teachers and assistants goes over and beyond the normal expectations of their role and I take this opportunity of thanking staff and letting them know that their effort, drive and energy is very much appreciated by all, and is what goes toward making our school such a vibrant learning organization.
Chess team
We again congratulate our chess team on a great effort. Top job.
Cyclic Review
As you are aware, over the past two days the school has undergone a Cyclic Review to ensure that whole school improvement processes are in place. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to showcase how our school is positioned in regard to the following areas:
- Catholic Identity (Discipleship)
- Education (Learning)
- Community (Engagement)
- Stewardship (Accountability)
A report should be available early next term. I thank staff, students and the following parents for their involvement in targeted conversations:- Pina Pettinicchio, Wendy Scanlan, Mary McGrath-Yek, Lisa Briscoe, Desiree von Bergheim, Fiona Ballard and Ian Plummer.
Best wishes for a wonderful Easter and I look forward to seeing everyone in Term Two.
Many blessings
Tamara McGougan
Principal

If paying your School Fees via BPay, please remember to change the Biller Code to 280446.
Your reference number is the same as previously, however from 1st April 2018 the bank will no longer accept the old Biller Code.
This new Biller Code has been in place since 1st February and is the code shown on 2018 School Fee statements.
Head Lice
As a number of year groups are currently experiencing head lice outbreaks, we ask parents to take the opportunity over the Easter Long Weekend to check your child’s hair and treat if required.
Head lice treatments are available from your pharmacy and also from the Uniform Shop.
Please continue to check your child’s hair for several days so we can eradicate them.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Project Compassion
Thank you for your generosity so far in support of Project Compassion. So far we have raised $1214 from our class boxes alone. A super effort by the Year 6 students who have raised $827 thus far. Please remember to bring your small boxes back to school before the end of term and fill in the details on the box if you would like a receipt. Thank-you for your continued support and have a lovely Easter break.
