December Review
December was highlighted through events surrounding the Holiday season. The band and choir programs put on a wonderful concert performance the night of December 5. The 6th grade took their annual field trip to see a A Christmas Carol in Milwaukee at the Pabst Theatre. The FBLA sponsored the Holiday Winter Dance which has many competitions. Congrats to Colton Nash on winning the ugly sweater crown and Justin Wolfe on wearing the most red & green.
Since the end of last school year, a scheduling committee has been investigating a daily schedule that would best meet the needs of all students as JLMS. We are looking at an option that will allow us to provide enrichment opportunities and deliver academic interventions without pulling students from required course work. The team has made great progress and is getting close to a final recommendation. The biggest impact will be choices that students will have to make in regards to their related arts courses. When the final recommendation is complete, we will host a presentation night for families prior to the scheduling process for the next school year.
The JLMS leadership team also reviewed the first 100-day plan of the year and wrote the next plan. Our focus this year continues to be around writing and analyzing student data from common formative assessments. This work is a continuation from last few years of aligning our teaching standards to our classroom assessments. This practice has lead to more rigorous classroom assessments that are better preparing our students for high stakes testing that they will take in the future, examples are the ACT and Wisconsin Forward Exam.

Winter MAP Testing
Please remind your student to give their best effort, eat a healthy breakfast, and get plenty of rest for their testing days. This is a great opportunity for students to simulate testing skills that they will need to apply in a few years when they take the ACT.
