La Porte Elementary
Leopard Families,
We have had such a great start to the school year!
Students are learning our routines and procedures. Our dismissal is getting quicker. Teachers are rigorously teaching. It is a GREAT TIME to be an LPE Leopard!
It was awesome to see so many families come out for our Open House. If you missed it, I am including some Title 1 information that was shared (see below). Check with your child's teacher to see if there was anything they shared that you need to know.
Students who participated in our Summer Reading Challenge, spent some time yesterday at our Bulldog Centre being entertained by Orbit from the Houston Astros. It was a great time! Keep on the look out for future BeanStack Reading Challenges!
Friday, September 15th, you are invited to join your child in the LPE Gym at 7:15 am for a donut and juice (or milk)! We love seeing our parents and guardians on campus!
This month our PTO will kick-off their fall fundraiser with World' Finest Chocolate. Look for details coming home soon!
PLEASE REMEMBER...
Transportation changes for dismissal MUST be shared with the office before 2:30pm. If you need to check your child out early, make sure you get to the office before 3:00pm. The dismissal process is already starting after this, and we will not be able to call your child down.
Bus riders MUST wear their badges as they get on and off the bus every day.
Label your child's backpack, water bottle, lunch kit, jacket, etc. with their name.
Breakfast is free for all students at LPE. Free and reduced LUNCH applications must be resubmitted online every year. We encourage ALL FAMILIES to apply.
Check out the LPISD family portal for all things back to school.
https://www.lpisd.org/students-families
You can find the student handbook, the application for free & reduced lunch, bus information, lunch menus, and so much more.
If you are in need of assistance with food for your family or getting your child school supplies, please reach out to our amazing counselor, Mrs. Horelka. ( horelkad@lpisd.org ) Also contact her if you feel like your child would benefit from having a mentor - someone from the district or community who would come up to campus on a regular basis (usually weekly) to have lunch with and give them a little extra attention.
We do not allow any ROSES in the building, due to a severe allergy. Please consider other options when sending teacher gifts.
If you are interested in receiving campus reminders and last minute announcements via text, please text @lpefam to 81010.
Please see the calendar of important dates below!
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your child's teacher, or contact the front office at 281-604-4700.
Thanks for your support this year,
Karen Lawley, Principal
