Week of May 2, 2016 - Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

I can't believe we are in May already! It truly is hard to believe. The weather looks great this week, as well. In the above picture, Amelia is definitely in the Spring mood by enjoying some tulips. :) It's been a busy few weeks here at Edgewood & La ola del lago, and the next few weeks will continue to thrive on high octane as we begin to wind down and celebrate the 2015-16 school year. We still have quite a few days to make a major difference in the lives of our students and their learning. Have a great week!

Digital Curriculum Resources Survey

Hello everyone,

I am working to get a better handle on the use of digital curriculum resources in the district. As many of you know, my position is new this year and I am working to help determine how best to support teachers in the use of the digital resources that the district subscribes to. I am also interested learning about other tools that teachers use or are interested in using. If you could fill out this survey: http://bit.ly/plsasdce, which should take about 10 minutes, I would really appreciate it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you!

Motivational Video

Here is a great inspirational video I would encourage everyone to take 3 minutes to watch. While I know change and growth can be scary, it is also when we discover the most about ourselves, our untapped potential, and new passions that make us better. As educators in PLSAS, we are always going to be on personal and professional journeys of continuous improvement. As a leading and innovative district, we will always relentlessly strive to be better, to improve, and do whatever is needed to help all of our students and families reach their full potential.

In closing...

My family was very fortunate to welcome my brand new nephew, Cedar, into the world this weekend. Beyond being a very cute and healthy newborn, what sets Cedar apart is his arrival story. Christie (Erin's sister) and her husband Justin were driving to the hospital around 2:00 on Saturday. Erin had just spoken with her around 1:00, and she had said she was starting to have some contractions. Around 2:30, Erin received a text with a picture of her sister with Cedar. At first she thought it was a joke. However, Cedar decided he didn't want to wait to make it to the hospital. He was born in the back of their car, ironically enough on the side of Cedar Avenue, north of Highway 62. What a crazy story! All are well and healthy, and I am thrilled to be his uncle!
