Retirement Party for Mrs. Lehr on Friday, May 13

THANK YOU to our team of amazing teachers who have dedicated their lives to imparting the truth and life that is found Jesus Christ to our children. There is no greater calling or greater responsibility than sharing the gospel with the next generation- and it is our privilege each year to thank and honor those who have spent their careers doing just that.

Please join us on Friday, May 13 in the JK Stevens Commons as we honor Mrs. Vicki Lehr, who has faithfully educated, loved and served the children and families of Traders Point Christian Academy for 16 years and is now retiring from full-time teaching.

We invite you to help us celebrate her strong ministry in Christian education and to thank her for the eternal impact she's had on the lives of so many precious children.

All current and former students of Mrs. Lehr are invited to write a letter of thanks and/or to share their favorite memories of their time in her class. These letters will be included in a memory book that will be presented to her at the retirement party. Letters should be submitted to the TPCA front office by Wednesday May 11. Thank you so much!

Nurse's Clinic News

I am currently reviewing each student’s immunization records as required for the next school year. Some families have already heard from me, and If your student is in need of any vaccines, you will be hearing from me via email. I am making my best attempt at sending a separate email for each student; that way you can print and take it in to your physician and it will be clear what each student needs. The state of Indiana has specific requirements for each grade level and I am happy to share these requirements with you if you would like, or they can be found on the Indiana state immunization data base at : https://chirp.in.gov/main.jsp.

This Spring has been especially high in pollen counts, as most of you know from experience! Our poor students and adults with allergies have been struggling, but are surviving a sometimes miserable time of year. We are seeing a great deal of itchy eyes, itchy/scratchy/sore throats, congestion, headaches and fatigue. Even folks with no previous allergies are experiencing some irritation in the mucus membranes this spring. We will get through it: all we can do is continue to treat the symptoms.

In my monthly meetings with the Boone County Health Department, I am still hearing that we have several active cases of Mumps throughout our state, including Indianapolis and the northwest Indianapolis/Boone County area. Be aware of the symptoms:

*Swollen, painful salivary glands on one or both sides of the face (parotitis)

*Fever

*Headache

*Muscles aches

*weakness and fatigue

*Loss of appetite

*Pain while chewing or swallowing

The best known symptom of Mumps are the swollen salivary glands, which can make the face or cheeks look “puffy”. If you experience any of these symptoms, please see your family doctor as soon as possible. Also, we (as parents) seem to be very good at making sure that our children’s immunizations are up to date, while often overlooking our own immunization status! Please take care of yourselves and verify your status with your physician, so that you can be the best care-taker for your children and families .

As always, please don’t hesitate to call me with any needed clarification or any concerns.

It is my blessing to serve and care for your children, we all belong at TPCA!
