Countdown to the Holidays!
Noteworthy in November and "Save the Dates" for December
Looking Back at November
November came and went so quickly and so many activities and events are worth mentioning. Our teachers do an amazing job keeping you informed of classroom functions and activities. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to see what transpires in multiple classrooms on a daily basis. It is my hope that these short updates give you an overall snapshot of our amazing community. I thank you for entrusting us to educate and care for your student!
Art
Ms. Tanya's hallway board illustrates how students work together to produce our holiday show. There is a system in place that makes the show possible that includes collaboration and creative design!
4th Grade
Mrs. Lopez's class showcases the "system" used by authors of informational text. Each part of the whole has a title and a purpose.
2nd Grade
Mrs. Baker's class has done a wonderful job displaying their knowledge of the immune system.
Merryhill Quarterly Themes
Many of you are familiar with the quarterly themes and related projects here at Merryhill. If you are new, you have seen the first (Global Understanding) showcased through hallway process boards and culminating with the Passport Around the World event. The school-wide theme for quarter 2 is Systems. Each classroom teacher uses his/her hallway board to demonstrate and display the process by which students work their their chosen project or focus. I encourage you to take a moment to read the short description of the displayed project which includes the learning objectives addressed. It is exciting and so impressive to see the creative ways in which students are learning and mastering the difficult content they are given.
Fifth Grade Native American Exhibition
Mrs. D'Souza's 5th grade Social Studies students hosted each K-8 class last week, guiding students through a series of stations set up in Clevenger Hall. At each station students were ready to explain the project displayed and share facts about Native American history and culture. Please enjoy the Smilebox below.
