Message from Dr. Frischkorn
Hello Mayfield Intermediate School Community!
This week's message is going to focus on a positive story that was shared with me last month regarding a Mayfield family and their extremely kind donation to Mrs. Thompson's 6th grade class. Here is the story:
During orientation, Mrs. Thompson had a stack of "Wonder" books in her classroom (one class size of books) and she expressed to the Jackson family how she desired to read it with her students during the upcoming school year. However, our distance learning platform did not make it feasible for her class to read the book together because she would require at least 50 copies of the book Wonder in order to distribute to every student in each of her language arts classes.
Ms. Jackson is very involved in her child's education and has been very supportive of Mrs. Thompson's class throughout this school year. Mrs. Jackson sent beautiful words of encouragement and stated "you could use a hug and a surprise!" She proceeded to tell Mrs. Thompson about their late mother's commitment to education and how the Jackson family works very hard to keep her legacy alive. In doing so, they donated 41 copies of the book Wonder to Mrs. Thompson's classroom.
As a bonus, they individually made the most amazing bookmarkers for every student in my class. Each bookmarker has a positive affirmation and affectionately honors their mother, Ms. Ruth C. Jackson.
Mrs. Thompson shared " There are so many life lessons 6th graders can learn from reading Wonder."
On behalf of the students of Mayfield, I want to personally thank the Jackson family for their generous donation. The students in Mrs. Thompson's class are extremely thankful for the support.
Always Learning!
