Greetings Woodcrest Families,
On the morning after the general election, seeing students faces during the Morning Meeting was a good reminder of the importance of consistency in the learning experience of our students. In these days filled with uncertainty, we continue to commit to providing the certainty of joy-filled, engaging learning for your children. Ending last week with Sprit Day AND the unifying Dance-a-thon filled the hearts of everyone involved. I look forward to partnering with our PTO on refining community building experiences like these. It was an example of our Woodcrest motto this year “JUNTOS ES MEJOR! BETTER TOGETHER!”
I have a few important updates for you this week.
Requesting a change from current learning model
We are nearing a district trimester transition. You can request a change to your student's current learning model for the second trimester (through March 11) -- to or from Modified Campus (hybrid) or Extended Flexible Learning (distance)
Please communicate any requests to our front office by Sunday, November 15. You can call the main office number, 763-600-5802, or email Yesica Garay-Muñoz.
We'll review requests against current staffing plans and communicate with requesting families the week of November 30 for any transitions to begin at the start of the trimester on December 8. Please be aware that with any transition, your child would likely be learning with a different teacher and group of learners.
COVID-19 increasing in the county
We are continuing to monitor increasing case rates in Anoka County through a weekly report from the Minnesota Department of Health and daily county case numbers. It is our intent to continue with our Modified Campus (hybrid) learning model for grades K-6 for as long as possible and prioritize learning at school.
We are working with our regional support team, which includes public health experts, to consider county, district and school data and trends. We are committed to making decisions for health, safety AND learning for students, families and staff.
We want you to know what we are seeing and be informed should the situation mean we have to make a change in the future. We know any changes are disruptive to families. We’ll have updated data in the next few days and will share more information.
If you have any questions about these or other topics, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. I have had the chance to meet with many of you over the last few weeks and have left each encounter with clear next steps on how we can make this school year better for everyone.
Thank you,
John Franke
Interim Principal

- Only students will be allowed to enter the building to have their picture taken- we will have a staff member by Door 1 ready to assist students.
- Once a student has their picture taken, the student will exit the building using Door 1.
- All students need to follow the social distancing guidelines.
- Students will be divided into three groups, based on their last names:
