CVE Parent Connection Update
week of 8/3/20-8/7/20
A note from Mrs. Jungmichel
Hello Tiger families!
I wanted to begin today’s message with “Welcome to Cibolo Valley Elementary” for those of you who are receiving a CVE campus parent update for the first time. We take pride in keeping our families in the know by providing reminders/announcements using this email system as well as Dojo and our PTC Facebook page. Don’t worry, if you are new and not connected to Dojo, your classroom teacher will be sharing more information. Feel free to join and follow our CVE PTC Facebook page if you are a facebook user. We strive to reach you though as many forums as possible.
I know the ever-changing circumstances we find ourselves currently in can be unsettling. These times are quite uncertain. What we are certain about is that we are READY for our Tiger Family to be back together (virtually and/or in-person). I understand, you are filled with various needs, thoughts, and questions as we start the 2020-2021 school year.
Please rest assured we are working very hard to ensure another great year for all stakeholders at Cibolo Valley Elementary! We are #TigerStrong and strive for continuous improvement for EVERY KID EVERY DAY! That will not stop regardless of the uncharted waters we continue to navigate. As we face the next few weeks and start of the 2020-2021 school year, our number one commitment will continue to be supporting and serving you and our Tiger students. Regardless of what those needs may be. My hope is that this update will met some of those needs as well as answer many questions!
The last month, I have met almost daily with district and campus leaders. In addition, our campus teacher leadership team has been investing precious summer days to collaborate and have had some professional development, reflection, goal setting, and successful leadership conversations to ensure that we are preparing and moving forward with the BEST plan possible under the circumstances. Thursday, we welcome our entire Tiger family staff back to campus. Together, they are a very experienced and reflective team and will continue to make decisions about how to best serve our students. In addition, they will participate in professional development learning, and will continue to build new skills for an uncertain future.
We are eager for our Tiger family to be back together. We are eager to provide students with the best instruction and social opportunities. We continue to be eager for the sense of some normalcy and community. While we will begin the year just as we ended with unfamiliar tasks, and the reality before us, we will be sharing several modified beginning of the year procedures. Many will be included in this campus connection update, and more will be coming as we continue to create our playbook, under unforeseen and every changing circumstances without a manual.
Now more than ever, we appreciate your support and partnership!
For those coming back to CVE; we miss and appreciate our Tiger Family!
For those new to CVE; welcome to the Tiger Family! We are happy you are here and look forward to serving YOU and your little Tigers! Last spring we created this virtual tour (link) to help welcome our new families! We hope you ENJOY!
Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay connected.

More about registration:
Registration:
We continue to assist families with the online registration process and want to thank you for the summer survey feedback gathered so far. We ended last May with 978 students and have received a total of 667 completed surveys as of today- Thank you!
Instruction Preferences - SCUC @ Home or SCUC On Campus
This summer survey (linked here) is the tool that SCUC ISD uses to ensure all families have declared their preference for SCUC @Home or SCUC On Campus for the first grading cycle of 20-21. If you have not yet completed this survey for all of your students, please take a moment to click on the link and do so (use this link for your first time ONLY).
What if things change?
Each family will have up to 2 weeks before each grading cycle begins to submit their choice. The first deadline for this feedback was originally July 30 and has been moved to Aug. 21 following the fully remote start decision. If you have any questions, please see the most up to date information on this SCUC District webpage (link).
How to Change your Instruction Preference
If you have completed the link, but need to change your selection preference for instruction only, please click here (link). Please do not use the link above for this change.
Other departments within SCUC are relying on your survey feedback as well to include transportation, technology, and child nutrition. Here are updates from each one:
From Transportation: SCUC ISD bus number and bus stop information is now available for the upcoming school year (2020-2021). Please fill out the bus rider registration form: Bus Rider Registration Any questions please call 210-945-6224.
From Technology:
Survey responses will be used to email families who have indicated a need for a device. Those with a device will be able to submit a new user agreement to continue using the device that was checked out last spring/summer. New requests will be provided an email which includes a user agreement for completion. Details regarding pick up (which begins this week at Dobie Jr. High school) will be emailed.
REMINDER: Parent/Guardians will be asked to present their driver’s license and user agreement confirmation at device pick up. With fully remote learning for the first three and a half weeks of school, we recognize needs may have changed. If so, please submit needs on the summer survey link above.
From Child Nutrition: Child Nutrition
Free and Reduced application link will be active on August 7th as well as My School Bucks for payments to student accounts.
