The Meeting in Review

School Board Re-Organization

The Methacton Board of School Directors on December 3, 2018 held their re-organization meeting. The meeting resulted in the re-appointment of Ms. Kim Aubrey-Larcinese as School Board President and Ms. Elizabeth Drummond as Vice-President. In addition, Ms. Andrea Rees and Ms. Elizabeth Drummond were re-appointed as North Montco Technical Career Center representatives, each for a 2 year term, to the Joint Operating Committee. The Board approved their meeting schedule for 2019.

Each month throughout the school year, at the voting meeting of the Board, student board representatives provide a snapshot of the many incredible and important learning experiences that occur. This is all part of how we share our Methacton Pride!

Award of Excellence

Dr. Amy Mangano, Principal of Arcola Intermediate School, presented Awards of Excellence to Ms. Abby Hollenbeck and Ms. Caroline Deininger. Both of these outstanding members of the Arcola team go above and beyond to support the students, staff and community of the Methacton School District.

Big picture

Arrowhead Elementary School Discussion

Superintendent, Dr. David Zerbe presented a recommended timeline for the Board to consider with respects to the Arrowhead Elementary School property. The timeline recommends that a decision by the Board be made in January to narrow potential options going forward. The discussion centers on the projected $14 Million in facilities renovations and if the district should consider closure and consolidation, renovation, or new construction. The Board requested that Dr. Zerbe provide additional information to help with this decision making process.

All other items listed on the December 3, 2018 agenda were approved.

Board Notes

The Methacton School District's Board of School Directors meets each month. School board work session meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of the month, followed by the regular meeting on the fourth Tuesday (except during the month of December). Regular Board and work session meetings typically take place in the MHS LGI, and all residents are invited to attend. Committee meetings may take place in the Board Room at the Farina Center, or the MHS LGI. Meeting agendas are posted to agenda manager, and start times and locations are posted on the District's website. Please confirm meeting time and location before attending.
