HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 3 Week 2 August 2 2019
FROM MARK
Dear Parents/Guardians
We are now half way through our renovations, with the classes and hall transforming beautifully.
Congratulations to Ana Johnson and her Three Dominic class. We loved your assembly item! Thank you so much for such an inspiring start to our day.
Next Friday sees us celebrate the feast day of St Dominic, founder of the Dominican tradition upon which our School and Church are based. This lovely day, with a prayer focus, and many activities planned, is one our children all look forward to!
Finally, information is included in this newsletter about voting for our local hero Bec Watson. This is a BIG DEAL. Please vote and encourage as many of your friends and family to do so as well for our Siena children.
Have a great weekend
Mark de Kluyver
Principal

PARKING #1
STAFF CAR PARK
Parents are advised that the staff car park is not to be used for student drop off/pick up, either before or after school.
The safety of our students is our primary concern. Traffic in and out of our car park creates a significant risk to our students.
We have a designated disabled bay in the staff car park which is to be utilised by vehicles for Siena children with an approved disability parking permit only.
The gates near the Library will be locked between 8:00am to 3:30pm every day.
Thank you for your co-operation and keeping our students safe!
DRIVE THROUGH
Please do not park in the following areas:
- the drop off zone in front of the OSHC.
- between the base of the ramp adjacent to pre-primary, and the stairs at the church - this blocks access from the ramp across to the footpath that leads in front of and around the church. Many children walk or ride this way. Their safety is everyone's priority.
- the bays in front of the Church.
Areas marked with a star below are NO PARKING areas.

CLASSROOM REFURBISHMENT UPDATE - WEEK 3
CROSS COUNTRY
The CPSSA Cross Country Carnival was held on Tuesday July 30 at Alderbury Reserve Perry Lakes for selected students in Year 3 to 6.
Our team was full of smiles and enthusiasm with everyone trying the very best on the day.
Overall Mel Maria were too strong on the day with Holy Rosary placing 7th out of 16 schools. However, our boys teams did extremely well coming in 3rd place. This was highlighted with Keagan charging home in the last race of the day breaking a time record for Year 4. This was one of a number of very special runs during the day.
I would like to thank all of the staff and parents that helped out on the day and give special thanks to Julie Catherall and Sam Xanthis for training the children this year.
We now turn our attention to the Holy Rosary Athletics carnival on September 13 more about that in a few weeks.
Kind regards,
Rob Flexman - P.E Teacher
HOLY ROSARY COMMUNITY NEWS
LOCAL HERO
A VOTE FOR BEC IS A VOTE FOR INCLUSIVE FUN
VOTE FOR BEC: http://tiny.cc/relgaz
All you need to do is vote for Rebecca Watson - our Westfield Local Hero finalist, who was nominated by the Holy Rosary Community (P&F).
Your vote will help Holy Rosary School Doubleview win a $10,000 grant towards a wheelchair accessible Sway Fun Glider, which allows two wheelchair users and up to eight other children to swing and play together.
Like many parents of children with special needs, Rebecca advocates not only for her daughter Marlee, but for all children with similar challenges who can benefit from a communication device that 'speaks' for them.
A vote for this Holy Rosary mum is also a vote for the families of the school - particularly those who have worked so hard over a number of years to raise money for this inclusive Sway Fun Glider.
Voting is open from 30 July to 12 August.
Ask your friends, relatives and work colleagues for their support too!
