CHILDREN and CELL PHONES: SPECIAL PRESENTATION!
On Thursday, February 24 at 6:00pm in the Clinton High School Auditorium, Dr. Brooke Spatta, a Presbyterian College professor who specializes in Developmental Psychology, and Todd Johnson, a retired deputy from the Newberry County Sheriff's Department, will join us to discuss the challenges and strategies of parenting the middle school child during the age of cell phones. Dr. Spatta will discuss what is and what is not developmentally appropriate for pre-teens as connected to cell phones, as well as strategies that parents can incorporate to help with the growth and development of their child. Mr. Johnson will talk about the threats to child safety that a phone can present, as well as important information that parents should know to keep their students safe. A free dinner will be served before the program. There will also be door prizes that those who attend can potentially win, including an Apple Watch! This presentation is free and appropriate for parents and students in grades 4 through 8.
ACADEMIC TEAM
The Clinton Middle School Academic Team soundly won all three of their matches yesterday at Hickory Tavern Middle School. They defeated Sanders by a score of 38-8 and Laurens Middle by the score of 38-14. In their third match, they completely dominated Gray Court by the score of 40-3! The team is now 5 and 1 for the year. The team members include Jackie Alcudia, Madison Edgins, Gemma Gearhart, Ella Kate Haupfear, Sam Hunt, Salaam Jenkins, Jacob King, Matthew King, Ty Medlin, Ada Tiller, and Marlee Williamson. Way to go, Wildcats!
SPORTS SPOTLIGHT
On Monday night, the Lady Wildcats traveled to Westview Middle School where they suffered their second loss of the season. Nah’Shia Wright played strong to the very end. On Thursday night, the Lady Wildcats traveled to McCormick Middle School for the final game of the season. At McCormick the Lady Wildcats played their best game of the year and won 32-18. During the second quarter alone, the Wildcats scored 20 points! Nah’Shia Wright and Alana Jackson were quite the duo, causing the other team to turn over the ball multiple times with their solid defense. Amirah Hill, Kemaria Shelton, and Jada Floyd played strong defense with solid box-outs and key rebounds. We are so proud of how the girls played this season! Great job, Wildcats!
WILDCAT PAW PRIDE: HOODIES AND T-SHIRTS!
Now that the weather has become a little colder we thought you might be interested in purchasing a CMS Wildcats Hoodie (or T-shirt because we all hope that it warms up just a little). The Hoodies are a great way to show support for our students and stay warm while attending winter sports. We have sizes available ranging from Adult Small to Adult 3XL (currently we are out of Mediums in Hoodies). Hoodies cost $20.00 and the T-shirts cost $10.00. If you would like to purchase one please click on the link to complete the attached Order Form and bring payment to Mrs. Wood in the Library. Cash and Checks made payable to CMS are accepted. Sizes are available on a first come first serve basis.
SPRING BOOK FAIR - SAVE THE DATES
The CMS Spring Book Fair is coming to town on February 16-25! You can click on the link to visit the CMS Book Fair Website. There is information about what you can find at the in person fair and on the virtual fair. All orders made online will be shipped to your home. There are no shipping fees if your order is over $25. Go to the website to set up an eWallet. This is a great way to let kids shop and not worry about them losing their cash. Any money not spent at the fair will be credited back to the person’s credit card that set the eWallet up. Additionally, the fair can accept payment in the form of cash, credit card, debit card, eWallets, or checks made out to CMS. Fliers will be going home a week before the fair. More information will be coming in the next few weeks. In the meantime, check out the Book Fair Website and start planning your purchases.
