Maire newsletter: December 18th Edition
Dear Maire Families,
How do we wrap up the year that was 2020? While this challenging year has been full of hardships, struggles, and sacrifices, I would like to highlight some of the amazing things to come out of 2020. First, this year has taught us the importance of grit and perseverance. Students, parents, and teachers have all had to adapt, be flexible, and push through during all of these changes. Learning online is not ideal, but with hardwork and determination, everyone has partnered together to make the most of our time.
2020 has taught us to cherish and enjoy the relationships we have. We all strive for connections, and sometimes we don’t realize how valuable the interactions and relationships are with others until we lose them. 2020 has made making connections difficult, but it has also forced us to work harder to make and keep those connections that we value.
Finally 2020 has grown our compassion and empathy for others. I believe it has made us become more aware of other’s struggles and also enlightened us to their joys and needs. 2020 will be a year that can’t fully be captured in words, but it certainly is a year that we learned a lot from and we look forward to pushing forward to a bigger and brighter future in 2021.
Thank you for your partnership during this year. 2021 here we come!
Ryan Francis

GPPSS meal distribution every Wednesday
Free meals distributed Wednesdays 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
From 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. every Wednesday, families can pick up a week’s worth of meals for students under age 18 or those receiving special education services under age 26. Simply drive through North High School, 707 Vernier, in Grosse Pointe Woods. In order to keep this as safe as possible for everyone, these meals will be served as “grab and goes” to be taken home for consumption. Free lunch will be served at all schools for students who order when attending in person. Free breakfast will be served at Defer, Mason, Monteith, Parcells, Pierce, North and South when students attend school in person. This is made possible through an extension of the USDA grant.
Free and Reduced Meal Applications: https://gpschools.formstack.com/forms/freeorreduced
Important: Please complete an application each school year if you think you might be eligible as this greatly impacts the district’s ability to access state and federal funding sources. This information is confidential.
