Thursday December 10th

This week I received the results of our Bright Bytes survey. We had 25/42 staff respond and 55 student responses. I talked with Jenny about the challenges to completing the survey in the window provided. Overall our score was lower this fall from last spring.

We have a Wednesday in February that is designated as a Technology Training Day. I would like to set up a group to meet to help provide feedback on what we would like from that meeting. I also hoped to develop a plan for helping staff with technology professional development.

We will have an initial, brief meeting in the IMC on Thursday, December 10th at 3:15 for anyone interested in being part of the committee. If you cannot make it, but would like to join please contact me.

Turn in Conference forms

Thank you for all of your efforts to make contact with parents. Please turn in your conference form to the box on Mary's desk by Tuesday. It will help me evaluate our turnout and provide feedback in January for future format of conferences. (Our calendar is currently set for a Friday all-day conference in Spring and 2016-17).

If you have any other feedback for me use the form below and I will share at the next principal meeting.

Formative Assessment

Formative Assessment Article

Here is an interesting article I came across on Formative Assessment by Carol Ann Tomlinson (Differentiation guru). She discusses how formative assessment can be the catalyst for instructional planning.

Data Display Walkthrough December 2nd

The ILT received both positive feedback and ideas for improvement from our December 2nd instructional rounds. Our goal was to see others data displays and look for ways to implement on your own display. Our two next steps with the displays for 2nd quarter are:

1). Develop Data walls that show school/classroom targets.

2). Data walls should be highly visible and engaging (interactive) to students.

If you have questions, comments, or support please see Brandon or myself. We will discuss more ideas at a future staff meeting.

January Professional Development

Our next Staff Professional Development Day is scheduled for Wednesday January 13th. On this day we plan to collaborate with Jackson school to coordinate an EdCamp style professional development day.

I will share more components of the EdCamp framework in an upcoming newsletter. The video below will give you an introduction to the concept.
