Avoiding Fraud

A Short Guide to Staying Safe On the Internet

What Is Fraud?

Fraud is simply wrongful deception intended to result in ones financial or personal gain. This means that people who are committing fraud are trying to receive information that can help them get into bank accounts or access anything that they aren't supposed to so that they can steal money or more information.

What Does It Look Like?

Fraud comes in forms like fake emails requesting personal information, pop-ups that claim you have won something, or anything that is requesting personal information and looks kinda fishy.

How To Avoid Fraud

Just don't give out personal information to sites that you have never seen or don't trust. Banks and websites like Amazon will never ask for your personal information again because they already have it so don't give it!
