Jaguar Journal
Edition: January 19-January 29 2021
Principal's Message
We are currently in a fairly restrictive color tier which does not enable us to reopen at the moment or run our usual school activities. I remain hopeful that in the weeks to come this will improve as we move further away from the holiday surge. Under the current stay-at-home order, we cannot open any new activities. However, CA Department of Public Health will allow for Cross Country in the widespread tier (purple). Our Athletic Department is in the planning stages to organize our Cross Country team in anticipation of starting our season once the stay at home order is lifted. It is important to make sure your Athletic Clearance Form has been submitted if your student plans on participating in sports this school year. Please find more information on athletic clearance information here. There will be a future Cross Country Meeting on zoom for interested athletes and parents the week of February 1-5. More information to follow via school loop email.
In looking ahead, I have compiled information for our Jaguar families below:
- Notification letters for students under a 2.0 have been mailed out and should be arriving in your mailboxes by the middle of next week. These letters serve as a means for us to communicate concerns as well as resources that are available to our students.
- Progress Reports for Quasimester 3 will be mailed home in mid-February. It is vital that struggling students take advantage of our Afternoon Plan of Support mentioned above.
- There will be no school the week of Feb 15th-19th. We will resume virtual classes on Monday, February 22nd.
- Quasimester 3 ends on March 19th. Students will rotate back to periods 2, 4, and 5 beginning on March 22.
- At this time, we are planning on administering the usual spring statewide assessment. This may change in the weeks to come as we receive information from our state and federal agencies.
If you are an 8th grader or have an 8th grader at home, you will find important information that has been emailed via school loop regarding high school next year. In this newsletter, you will also find the same information!
I hope that everyone is off to a great start in 2021. I will continue to inform parents and students via newsletters, texts, and emails throughout the remaining months of school. Hang in there! I realize this is not easy and I only help this experience makes us all more resilient, patient, and flexible as we navigate our current circumstances,
Best,
Mrs. Ana Farina

Students will participate in the Family Life Education units unless the parent/guardian notifies their child's science teacher before February 10, 2021. Alternative units in science will be provided for those students not taking part in any of the Family Life Education topics.
